About Us

Backyards of Katy was founded by Ian and Carlie, bringing hand-finished, direct-imported outdoor furniture to Katy, Texas and the Greater Houston area.

Where it started

Our story starts far from a Turkish factory or quarry. After graduating from Ohio University, we married and moved to Katy, Texas. The early years were spent building careers in finance and accounting in Houston.

In 2019, life pulled us somewhere entirely different: Türkiye. Since then, we've taken what we've learned and applied it toward a shared appreciation for design and a desire to use our creativity in business together.

Between raising three daughters and building a life across two cultures, we created Backyards of Katy as a bridge to connect the hands-on sourcing relationships we've built in Türkiye to the community back in Texas.

What we believe

Outdoor furniture should look and feel luxurious but also be able to hold up to the Texas sun, humidity and storms. That's why we prefer natural stone that's hand-finished, each piece uniquely its own.
